We pride ourselves on the close and lengthy relationships we develop with all of our carers, and will provide you with ongoing support and assistance for as long as you require it.

Is it free to register?

Yes! It’s absolutely free for babysitters and nannies to register with Nanny2u.

What should I expect to be paid as a nanny or babysitter?

It is up to you to determine your hourly rate. Your hourly rate as a nanny or babysitter will depend on your experience with working with children, your qualifications, background checks and references.

The normal hourly rates usually vary between $25-$30 per hour depending on your experience. Mummy nannies hourly rates are approximately $18-$20 per hour.

Am I employed by Nanny2u?

No, once the offer of employment has been made and accepted, the employment agreement is made between yourself and the family.

Who pays my tax and super?

Nanny2u does not employ you. Your families will employ you directly, and therefore they’re responsible for your tax/superannuation obligations.

The exception is if you’re self-employed, and contract yourself directly to the family. In this case, you would then be responsible for your own tax obligations and you would have your own ABN number.

Should I get nanny insurance?

Yes – we strongly recommend that all carers take insurance. You can contact Nannysure for information about nanny insurance.

What if I'm only free days, or nights?

That’s no problem. When you register with us, just put your preferred days / nights, and hours. You can email to update us whenever your availability changes.

Can I chose to work with specific ages?

Yes. When registering with Nanny2u, you can select the age groups you prefer to work with, and which age group you feel most comfortable with. If you have had experience working with multiples, please mention your experience when registering. Nanny2u specialises in the care of multiples (e.g. twins or triplets) and this service is highly sought after.

Are my personal details kept confidential?

Yes, your personal details (surname, address, phone, email) are never given to the parent without your written consent.

When a booking is made and you are available for that job, we send a profile, which gives an overview of your CV and qualifications.

What if I need advice or assistance?

Nanny2u will provide you with ongoing support and assistance for as long as you require it. We pride ourselves on the close and lengthy relationships we develop with all of our carers.

What is the difference between a nanny and a babysitter?

A nanny is usually employed during the day and have sole charge of the children.

They are responsible for the day to day activities / care of the children. For example:

  • Pick up / drop off to school or daycare
  • Attending planned activities e.g. Swimming / playgroup / playdates
  • Providing activities that stimulate the physical / emotional / and social well being of the children
  • Responsible for the domestic tasks related to the children
    • Preparing children’s meals
    • Washing children’s clothes
    • Tidying of rooms / play area

What about a mummy nanny?

A Mummy Nanny is responsible for the same activities as a nanny, the only difference is that you bring along your own child.  The advantages of this arrangement are that the family gets a very experienced nanny who has all the skills/experience of a nanny at a more affordable rate. The children can also play and interact with each other.

What about a babysitter?

A babysitter is classified as someone who typically takes care of children after working hours (from 6 pm) onwards. Their main role is caring for the children and the dinner / bedtime routine. Duties may include:

  • Preparing children’s dinner
  • Bath
  • Homework
  • Preparing for bed
  • Tidying up after dinner and children’s play area

Adhoc vs Regular Placements

A casual nanny or babysitter has no expectations of regular ongoing work with the same family.

It is usually for a ‘one off’ job, or as required.

Permanent nanny or babysitters can expect a regular shift or set days ranging from once a month, to 5 days per week, and with this comes an expectation of ongoing employment.

Do I need to have a car?

No, you can decide what area you would like to work in.

How many families can I work for?

As many as you like – many carers work for multiple families.

Which areas do you cover?

Although we have positions available all over Sydney, we predominantly cover the North Shore, Northern suburbs and Northern Beaches.

Can I make a booking with the same family?

No, please do not make private bookings with Nanny2u clients. If the family tries to book you for another placement, ask them to make the booking through Nanny2u. We will make every effort to re-book you with that family.
